Aaron Graham is lead Pastor at The District Church, right here in Washington, DC. He will be speaking at Blue on Saturday morning, and we are excited to hear his views on God’s mission and the church. Get to know Aaron through his blog and check out his responses to our Q&A.
What song is at the top of your playlist?
Matt Redman – Your Grace Finds Me (Hear it here.)
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be like Michael Jordan. Without a doubt, I wanted to be a star in the NBA. Only problem was that in 10th grade I was 5’3 and 97 lbs and was still playing on the Junior Varsity team at my local high school. God had other plans for me 🙂
What is the best piece of either personal or professional advice you’ve gotten?
As a visionary I often try to do too many things! A pastor who coaches me recently asked me the question – What is the one thing you can do in 2014 that will make everything else you do easier or unnecessary? That was a good question to wrestle with. As a Christian, husband, father, and pastor the answer to that question always comes down to my prayer life. I have found that a more active prayer life, of not being afraid to be lost in God’s presence, that it will make everything else I do easier, because I will be able to better focus on what has eternal value.
Do you have a favorite quote or scripture verse that motivates and inspires you?
AW Tozer – God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do ourselves.
