Can (or should) we profit from healthcare? Dan Styf will join us on Friday afternoon to address this and other key questions facing business leaders. If we are lucky, we may pick up a few fishing tips too!
What song is at the top of your playlist?
My wife is continually embarrassed by my music choices, but here goes: Cruise by Florida Georgia Line… I start my morning workout with that song every day. (Hear it here.)
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Until I was in high school, I wanted to be a fishing charterboat captain. Then, I changed my mind and wanted to be a family practice physician.
What is the best piece of either personal or professional advice you’ve gotten?
Professional: When I went for my interview for the graduate program I attended at Darmouth Medical School, the program director, Dr. Gerry O’Connor, told me “every doctor I know is upset with their profession… they’re telling their kids to do something else; we need more people like you to go into health care management so that we can make health care and the practice of medicine better.”
Personal: When my wife and I were going through our pre-marital counseling with her pastor, he gave us some great advice, including “Avoid using the words never or always in your relationship”
Do you have a favorite quote or scripture verse that motivates and inspires you?
“You must be the change you seek” by Gandhi
Do you have a website or blog to share with our readers?
Not a professional one… my getaway place is a blog called “The Hull Truth” where I can think about fishing and boating where I am.
